While sitting at Gattitown tonight with Shannah, there was a moment of clarity. I must flee Frisco for my life. I search around the room. There is not one person in there that I can relate to or have a conversation with. The large “hall” of a eating area, overloaded with morbidly obese, the beaten with shattered dreams, the mass breeders, and the facade brigade were all there mixing together in some unholy orgy of gluttony and martyrdom. I do not belong here. I never did. The compromised me thought this would be home; that it would be a good place to raise a family. I cannot raise a free thinking and independent human here. Frisco is vanilla and we is some Ben and Jerry’s shit, 4real!So now I’m motivated whereas before I was sorta on the fence about moving. I’m going to list my house as soon as possible.

I finally invested the 2 1/2 hrs to see this film. I had heard all of the hype and knew it wouldn’t suck, but nothing could have prepared me for the beauty of the craft that went into this film. I have NEVER seen an actor so consumed with a character. I was in awe as much as in horror. I giggled wickedly at the power and presence of Daniel Plainview in the final moments of an epic tale of metamorphosis and the darkness of man’s heart. The unsettling score, the unhurried pace, and PTA’s affectionate handling of the narrative crafted a film that feels totally fresh and alien along side films of the past 10-15 yrs. PTA shows the discipline and skill of a true auteur and may be the first director to emerge worthy to succeed Stanley Kubrick.

Missing You

After being rear-ended (HARD) on the tollway last week, I finally had things worked out with the assailing party’s insurance and took my disfigured beloved in for repair. I was shocked when they told me they would need it for at least a couple of weeks. I was punched in the gut when they told me I would be driving a PT Cruiser in the meantime. I may get glasses and a wig like relocated witnesses when they are interviewed on TV. I mean it’s a PT Cwooser! Shoot me now.

The sky has been amazing lately. I know that my experimentation with photography is showing me things I never would have seen or appreciated as much before.

Evil

How many people do you know that think they are good people and they are really fucking evil? The things they do and the outward perception of them completely contradicts their own perception of themselves. It’s impressive. I totally believe in something like karma. There is definitely a balance in the universe and regardless of immediate rewards, in the long run if you keep to the high road you will be able to say that you never had to stoop to that level.. and be fucking evil.
